  • Represented the University of California, San Francisco in connection with its environmental review of long-range planning, including successfully defeating multiple requests for injunction related to the removal and preservation of historic murals and obtaining a complete defense verdict at trial.   • Represented the University of California, Berkeley in litigation brought by multiple petitioners under CEQA, obtaining a complete defense verdict at trial. Berkeley Citizens for a Better Plan v. The Regents of the University of California et al. (Case No. 21CV000995); American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees Local 3299 et al. v. The Regents of the University of California, et al. (Case No. RG21110157); Make UC a Good Neighbor et al. v. The Regents of the University of California et al. (Case No. RG21110142).
  • Represented the University of California, Berkeley in a land use and breach of covenants action, securing a defense verdict against all cross-claims. Save Berkeley’s Neighborhoods et al. v. The Regents of the University of California (Case No. RG19006256).
  • Represented a client in breach of contract, fraud, and trade secret misappropriation matter in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, successfully obtaining complete dismissal of the client for lack of personal jurisdiction. Rentrak Corp. v. Burton, et al. (Case No. 3:15-cv-458-SB).

 

Philip Sciranka is an associate in Lubin Olson’s Litigation, Commercial Litigation, Real Estate Litigation, and Land Use service groups. He has a wide-ranging litigation practice with an emphasis on land use litigation. As a trusted advisor to clients across diverse industries, Mr. Sciranka regularly counsels both private and public entities, as well as businesses in emerging and established industries. His representations also involve a variety of complex litigation and compliance work under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and other significant real estate matters.

In his land use and CEQA practice, Mr. Sciranka represents developers, institutions, and property owners in cases involving development projects in San Francisco and throughout the Bay Area. He has litigated in state, federal, and appellate courts, successfully obtaining multiple defense verdicts involving high-stakes projects. 

In addition to land use and CEQA work, Mr. Sciranka has litigated cases involving contract disputes, corporate fraud, trade secret theft, membership disputes, dissolutions, and receiverships.
