Michael P. Muzzy is a partner in Lubin Olson’s Real Estate, Business, and Finance & Workouts service groups. He specializes in real estate transactions, joint ventures and other complex negotiations, development, finance, loan restructurings and workouts, construction, and general business law. He has extensive experience in all aspects of developer and owner representation, including acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures, financings, leasing, loan and partnership workouts, co-ownership and TIC structures, public-private partnerships, tax credit financings, seniors housing, and family-office luxury property acquisitions.

His clients value his pragmatic, results-driven approach to handling all aspects of property ownership and development — from acquisition, debt and equity financing, operations and lease-up through disposition. Mr. Muzzy integrates business judgment with legal strategy to deliver practical, cost-effective outcomes while preserving constructive relationships with all stakeholders.

Mr. Muzzy has been practicing law for 24 years, the last 22 with Lubin Olson. During his career, he has advised clients through multiple real estate market cycles — from periods of rapid expansion to significant downturns — and has represented investors, owners, landlords, tenants, lenders, developers, and operators across virtually every major real estate asset class. His work includes single-asset, portfolio, and entity acquisitions and sales; distressed real estate and loan restructurings; and representation of private lenders, hotels, mortgage funds, and institutional investors.

Mr. Muzzy is a member of the Real Property, Taxation, and Business Law sections of the California State Bar, and the Land Use and Real Estate sections of the Bar Association of San Francisco. Prior to joining Lubin Olson, Mr. Muzzy practiced at a boutique firm in San Francisco, where he represented family offices and closely held businesses in tax and real estate matters.

In a more adventurous earlier chapter of his life, Mr. Muzzy worked as a ski patroller (EMT) at a major Colorado resort and as a field researcher on marine science teams tagging and tracking great white sharks off the California coast and surveying Pacific gray whales for the National Marine Fisheries Service.

A native Californian, Mr. Muzzy spends his free time pursuing athletics, exploring remote backcountry, surfing, fishing, cooking, and attempting to play music.
